BLACK MOTHERHOOD
I created this work in 2020 as a tribute to my mother who passed away in 2019. Through the use of the camera, I aimed to explore and investigate other examples of motherhood within my community. Being a woman in our society is already a challenging experience, and raising children only adds to the difficulty. When you add being black into the equation, it becomes even more challenging. I wanted to sit down and talk with these women to create images and motion that showcases their diverse experiences.
