 LEFT BEHIND

In 2019 and 2020, I created this work after my mother passed away due to COPD. She was a lifelong smoker and had only reached the age of 61 at the time of her death. When I landed back home, I found the house in a terrible state, which left me feeling incredibly angry and devastated. In that moment of turmoil, I turned to my camera and took these photographs. This experience helped me understand the power of visual storytelling and how it can be used to navigate trauma and release difficult emotions.
